What do you think of the Mets’ gigantic free fall right now?
They were 7 games up with 14 games to go. This was supposed to be “the year.” Now all of a sudden, they are in the biggest collapse the franchise has ever known and they let the Phillies take sole posession of 1st place with 2 games left. How does this compare to the 51 Dodgers, the 64 Phillies, the 78 Red Sox, and the 04 Yankees? And if you are a Met fan, like myself, how pissed off are you about this? Me personally, I’m losing sleep and I’ve been in such a pissy mood. (It’s sad that sports does this to people)
We can thank Willie Randolph for that. He loves leaving pitchers in games until either the lead is blown or the game is out of reach. The only “good” thing is we all witnessed history this year….this collapse is one for the record books; it puts all the teams you mentioned to ‘shame’. At least with the ’78 Red Sox, a tie-breaker game was forced.
Makes you long for the days of Hernandez, Gooden, Knight, Strawberry and Davey Johnson, doesn’t it?
